Your report
Your report reaches you as a private link, and it is deliberately not readable by whoever happens to pick up your phone.
When your report is released, an SMS arrives with a link. The message never names a test, because a lock screen preview should not tell a stranger what you were tested for. Opening the link asks for your date of birth before it shows anything.
The link expires, and it locks itself after a few wrong attempts. If it has expired, ring us and we will send a fresh one. We cannot read the old link back to you over the telephone, and that is the point of it.
Every result that falls outside its reference interval is marked with a letter as well as a colour: H for high, L for low, and CRIT for a critical value. Colour is never the only signal, because reports get printed in black and white and roughly one man in twelve cannot separate red from green.
The interval printed beside your result is the one that applied on the day you were tested, kept with the result so that it still reads correctly years later. Intervals depend on sex and age, so the number that is normal for you may not be the number that is normal for the person beside you.
If a result is dangerous, we do not wait for you to open a link. We telephone, we record who we spoke to and when, and we tell your doctor. That call is a record in the system, not a note on a pad.
A printed copy is at the counter whenever you want one, including years later. Ask at the counter or ring us with your report number and your date of birth.
Occasionally a released result has to be amended. When that happens the report is reissued as a new version, it is signed again, and every link already sent stops working. You will be contacted. Nothing is quietly changed underneath a report you are already holding.
